We are thrilled to announce the opening of this interactive exhibition that highlights the inspirations and ideas that shaped Mukashi, Mukashi.

It is presented in the lobby of the Franco Boni Theatre and runs alongside the North American premiere of our Japan/Canada co-production. Come early to explore the interactive stations and get the full experience before the curtain rises!

Curated and designed by longtime CORPUS collaborator Carolin Lindner :

“This exhibition is a fusion of two worlds that have deeply influenced my imagination: the fairytales of the Brothers Grimm that I grew up with in East Germany and the rich, intricate culture of Japan, which has fascinated me for years. Since childhood, I loved to immerse myself in the magical realms of European folklore, often dressing up as Little Red Riding Hood in Kindergarten. These stories, with their deep roots in nature and mystery, have stayed with me.

My love for Japanese culture started many years ago when I started to experiment with Japanese paper, known for its delicate beauty and versatility. I began to use it in my crafts, combining the traditions of both cultures to create art pieces or house decor. For most of my projects I try to find everyday, often overlooked materials that I can transform into art pieces. For example, the circle installation is a paper collage made from French Brie cheese boxes—ordinary objects that become extraordinary when reimagined.

Pick up a book in the library, learn how to fold a paper crane or dress up as your own fairy tale character at the Cosplay station.

Carolin Lindner – Dramaturg, graphic & exhibition design

Carolin is a multi-disciplinary artist, working as a designer and theatre creator. Originally from Germany, she has been collaborating with CORPUS on many projects in various positions (co-creator, graphic and costume designer). Her work has been presented worldwide. She has taught art workshops in Mexico, Cambodia and Germany. She works with the Wee Festival and the Goethe Institut as a designer and educator. Carolin’s artwork, including paper collages, miniature installations and illustrations, has been exhibited in Canada, France and Germany.

Heading to Adelaide for the WOMADelaide, an internationally acclaimed festival featuring dancers, artists and musicians from over 30 countries. We are thrilled to be part of this diverse lineup!

2023 is an exceptional year for CORPUS. Our emblematic production, Les moutons, celebrates its 20th anniversary. Yes, it’s already been 20 years! And we’re going to make the most of it – we are going to Quebec City for 11 days of performances during the renowned comedy festival ComediHa!.
